Flappers were considered to be outrageous by contemporary standards of the time (kind of like girl power in the 1920′s) and raised the eyebrows of quite a few of the older generation. They were considered to be hedonistic and carefree but many claim it was a consequence of the preceding decade. People that survived the First World War wanted to celebrate the fact that they had survived and do things that would help them forget the terrible events just gone. So they danced and got drunk.
These are some great costumes for women. Never mind Halloween, you could also wear these to a cocktail party. Cocktail parties were all the rage during the 1920′s so it would fit right in.
